Ecological Plastic which is nearly 100% Recyclable in its afterlife is used in the HS 250h.

From the very start, the design of the HS Hybrid is conscious of its end. Wherever possible, we used materials that are more sustainable to produce and emit less harmful pollutants when their usefulness comes to an end. Whether castor seeds used in the seat cushions or kenaf fibers used behind the seats, we considered the environmental impact before, during and after the vehicle's lifespan.

HS 250h incorporates Ecological Plastic a plant based (not petroleum) material that is carbon neutral.

Over 30% of the passenger and trunk surface areas utilize Ecological Plastic.

The HS 250h offers an impressive array of displays and controls including an efficient Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display with dual, high-contrast meters. Add an advanced technology Heads-Up Display and the revolutionary Remote Touch Controller and you’ll clearly see, the HS250h is designed to put the driver firmly in control.

Light Emitting Diodes

The low-beam headlamps on the LS 600h L, and available on the RX 450h and HS 250h, feature Light-Emitting Diodes (LED), rather than conventional bulbs. This also holds true for the taillamps of every Lexus Hybrid model, as well as those of most gas-powered Lexus vehicles. Not only do LEDs last significantly longer than conventional bulbs, they use less energy and contain no mercury.

    Better Fuel Economy

    The HS 250h delivers V6 like performance with hybrid efficiency.

    The HS 250h engine delivers power and fuel economy using regular 87 octane gasoline.

    he 35 MPG rated HS Hybrid is over 50% more fuel efficient than Near Luxury competitors, and the most fuel-efficient Lexus ever.

    The front windshield of the HS is embedded with material that limits the amount of infrared rays coming into the car. This keeps the interior cooler, which means the air conditioning system doesn't have to work as hard and fuel economy improves.

    SULEV II - The HS 250h has earned the SUPER ULTRA LOW EMISSIONS VEHICLE Rating.   

    Sustainable Materials

    At Lexus, we've taken great strides toward increasing our use of natural materials in both our hybrid and non-hybrid vehicles. Kenaf, a highly sustainable grass plant similar to bamboo, is used inside the doors and seatbacks and rear parcel shelves of the HS 250 Hybrid and other Lexus models as well. The seat foam of the HS is produced using oil derived from castor seeds. These innovations contribute to a 33% reduction in harmful CO2 over the life cycle of the HS.
